Hardwood Flooring Services We Offer in Lenoir, NC
Hardwood Floor Installation
Whether you’re updating a single room or installing hardwood throughout your entire home, we handle every step — from subfloor preparation to the final walkthrough. We work with solid hardwood and engineered hardwood and help you select the right species, grade, and finish for your specific space, your lifestyle, and the level of daily traffic your floors will see.
Hardwood floor installation done right the first time saves you from costly corrections later. We don’t rush it, and we don’t cut corners on the details that determine how your floor performs five, ten, and twenty years from now.
Hardwood Floor Refinishing
This is where some of the most dramatic transformations happen. Floors that look finished — scratched, discolored, worn through in high-traffic paths — can often be brought back to a condition that genuinely surprises homeowners. Before you budget for full replacement, let us take a look. Refinishing is one of the most cost-effective upgrades you can make to any room, and when it’s executed by someone with Anthony’s level of experience, the results speak for themselves.
Floor Sanding & Finishing
Sanding and finishing is the work that separates a professional result from a project gone wrong. We use commercial-grade equipment and quality finishing products to deliver a smooth, even surface with the sheen level and tone you’re looking for — whether that’s a natural low-sheen matte, a warm satin, or a deeper finish that draws out the full character of the grain.
Commercial Hardwood Flooring
Small business owners and property managers in Lenoir need flooring that holds up under consistent daily use without looking tired within a year. We understand the added pressure of working around business hours and minimizing disruption to your operation. Commercial hardwood floor installation projects receive the same attention to detail as our residential work — because your floors reflect your business just as much as they reflect a home.
Built for the Blue Ridge Foothills — Not Just Any Climate
Here in the foothills of the Blue Ridge, the humidity shifts between seasons are more pronounced than most people expect. The elevation around Lenoir creates temperature swings and moisture fluctuations throughout the year that directly affect how hardwood behaves — before, during, and after installation.
Proper wood acclimation is the most critical step of our entire process. Before a single board goes down, we allow the wood to adjust to your home’s specific temperature and humidity conditions — sometimes for several days. This step, combined with the right moisture barrier preparation and species selection for your environment, is what prevents cupping, gapping, and buckling from developing months after the job is complete.
Wea account for Lenoir’s local climate conditions in every project we plan. That’s not something a flooring crew from out of the area without regional experience is going to think through at that level of detail.

“We are so, so happy we chose Good House Floor Care. The owner is Anthony Casabona and he has been refinishing hardwood floors for over 35 years. He is a master-craftsman. What makes Good House Floor special is that Anthony personally, with his assistant, did the entire job. He takes extreme pride in his work and treated our job like it was his own home. It was a big job, 3 sandings of 3,000 feet of prefabricated red oak that had a thick wax build-up over many years from the previous owners. Then water popping, staining, and applying 3 coats of oil-based polyurethane. The finished floor is absolutely gorgeous and is as smooth as glass. He also ripped up the carpet in the bedroom closet and put down new red oak. Aside from being a tremendous craftsman, Anthony is a great guy and a gentleman. I will not consider using anyone other than Good House Floor Care for any future wood floor projects. Thank you Anthony!!!”

Hardwood Floor Installation in Lenoir, NC — Frequently Asked Questions
1. How much does hardwood floor installation cost in Lenoir, NC?
Hardwood floor installation in North Carolina typically runs between $6 and $12 per square foot for materials and labor combined. Most standard residential rooms fall between $1,500 and $4,500 depending on square footage, wood species, subfloor condition, and finish type. An on-site quote gives you the most accurate number for your specific project.
2. How long do hardwood floors last?
Properly installed hardwood floors last 50 to 100 years. Solid hardwood can be refinished 5 to 8 times over its lifespan, adding decades of renewed surface life with each pass. Engineered hardwood typically lasts 25 to 30 years depending on wear layer thickness. Regular refinishing every 7 to 10 years protects that long-term investment.
3. Does installing hardwood floors increase home value?
Yes. Hardwood floors increase resale value by an average of 2.5% to 5%. Homes with hardwood consistently sell faster and at higher prices than comparable homes with carpet. In North Carolina markets, hardwood floors rank among the top three most requested interior features by buyers — making installation one of the strongest returns in home improvement.
4. What is the best time of year to install hardwood floors in North Carolina?
Spring and fall are ideal. Indoor humidity during those seasons typically stays between 35% and 55%, which allows wood to acclimate properly before installation begins. Peak summer humidity and winter heating dryness both create conditions that increase the risk of gapping, expansion, or cupping in the finished floor if acclimation is rushed.
5. Can hardwood floors be installed directly over a concrete slab?
Engineered hardwood can be installed over concrete using glue-down or floating methods — solid hardwood cannot. Before any installation over a concrete slab, moisture testing is required. Readings above 4% moisture content risk cupping, warping, or adhesion failure within 12 to 24 months. Skipping that test is one of the most costly shortcuts a homeowner can allow.
6. How many times can hardwood floors be refinished before they need to be replaced?
Solid hardwood floors can be refinished 5 to 8 times over their lifetime. Each sanding removes approximately 1/32 of an inch of wood from the surface. Floors milled at 3/4-inch thickness carry the most refinishing potential. A professional inspection measures the remaining wear layer and confirms how many refinishes remain before replacement becomes necessary.
7. Is it cheaper to refinish existing hardwood floors or install brand-new ones?
Refinishing costs $3 to $5 per square foot on average. New installation runs $6 to $12 per square foot. When the existing floor is structurally sound, refinishing is typically 40% to 60% less expensive than full replacement. Not every floor qualifies — an in-person assessment determines whether refinishing is a viable option before any commitment is made.
8. How do I care for newly installed hardwood floors?
Avoid wet mopping for the first 30 days after installation. Use a dry microfiber mop or a vacuum set to hard floor mode for routine cleaning. Apply a hardwood-specific cleaner monthly. Add felt pads under all furniture legs and use entry mats at doorways. Plan to refinish every 7 to 10 years to maintain surface protection and appearance.
